In 2011, Malawi implemented a Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) program. The aim of this program is to provide all HIV infected pregnant and breastfeeding women immediate and life long ART to allow babies to be born HIV free, known as Option B+.

The AYAZAZI study is an attempt to get a more holistic understanding of HIV risk among youth. It looks at everything from the social, behavioral, emotional, sexual and even genetic factors that may make it more or less likely that a person contracts HIV.
